In short
Maintaining your club page allows anglers to find you, your waters, costs and rules much more easily.
If anything on your waters is incorrect, you can submit corrections here with no account and no commitment.
If you would like to administer your club and its waters, you can maintain them directly. Your changes appear as you make them, and the page is marked as maintained by you.
Your waters, kept right by you
CanI.fish lists where people can fish and what permission is needed.
Anyone can submit information about any water. Anglers guessing at your rules, or working from outdated information, can be an issue.
Adding a water we do not hold
Anyone can add one, including you. Draw the stretch on the map, say what permission it needs, and send it. A person reads every submission before it appears. Naming the wrong club as controlling a stretch can cause issues, so nothing about permission is published without being verified.
You do not need an account to add a water.
Looking after the ones we do hold
To change a water on behalf of the club, the account has to be linked to the club. Ask for that from your club page:
- Create an account, if you have not already.
- Choose your club from the list.
- Give us either a page on the club’s own website that names you, or an email address at the club’s own domain.
- Send it.
All requests for club permissions are reviewed. We may ask questions, and we may require additional information. Requests can take time.
What you can change yourself, once you are linked
Edits from a linked club go straight onto the page and are marked as maintained by the club:
- how to get to the water, and where to park
- how hard the bank is to reach
- which species are present
- night fishing
- what kinds of fishing are allowed, and what methods are not
- whether a close season applies
- rod licence notes
- the day ticket price, and where to buy one
- opening hours, and the number to ring
- which river gauge the page shows
What still goes through review
Some things still go to a person first:
- what permission the water needs
- who controls it
- the boundary on the map
- the name and the web address
- whether the page is published at all
If something is wrong today
You do not have to wait to be linked to suggest changes. Every water page has a way to report something wrong and a form to fill in what it should say, and neither needs an account. If a page about your water is wrong right now, that is the fastest way to fix it.
